What To Expect During a Kinesiology Treatment
Here at Sitka Physio and Wellness, our Kinesiologists often work directly with our other health professionals including physiotherapists, manual therapists and chronic pain specialists to provide you with the most comprehensive treatment plan possible. They are passionate, professional, and cross-functionally trained in many different areas, to give you the care you need. Their background and expertise in competitive sport, yoga, pilates, road cycling, etc … is helpful for creating an exercise program that is as diverse and interesting as you are!
If this is your first assessment, it usually takes a bit more time, around 60 minutes. During this time your kinesiologists will do an initial assessment to get to know you, your body and it’s injuries. Follow-ups can be booked for 30 or 60 minutes, depending on how frequently you are attending. During those visits, we will check in on your progress and realign your treatment plan to make sure the everything is moving smoothly and in accordance with your lifestyle.
Depending on what you are dealing with, there are times you might need to see a kinesiologist as part of your ICBC claim. If that is the case, we will start with an initial assessment, then continue to keep track of your progress and will always provide reports to your case manager as needed.
What Kinesiology Helps With
Our kinesiologists have years of experience assessing and creating the right treatment plans to help people move and feel better. Our non-invasive treatment plans focus on using muscle feedback and body awareness to help reduce stress and pain. This treatment option is helpful for:
- Body Awareness
- Exercise Specificity, isolating specific movements and patterns, and also ensuring exercises are appropriate, as part of a larger program
- Support of your Comprehensive Rehabilitation Program, as set out by another member of your Wellness Team (often reinforce and progress exercises prescribed by the physiotherapist)
- Building confidence with Exercise, if it has been a while, or if you have never exercised
Transitioning from basic Physiotherapy Exercises to more functional activities and sports
