Specific, Measurable, Accountable, Realistic, and Timely (SMART) goal setting will increase the likelihood of succeeding with your exercise strategies in 2016. We are excited to be offering the Sun Run InTraining Program again this year. This 13-week program provides a progressive approach to improve your fitness as part of a group. In addition to weekly workouts, you will receive coaching, education on relevant topics, and all the motivation you need to achieve your goals. If you prefer to keep your goals individualized, we are happy to build your SMART exercise plan customized to your needs too. Book into to see one of our physiotherapists to get started.

Active Rehabilitation is an important step in the process of returning from injury. While many clinics offer treatment following injury, at Sitka we pride ourselves on providing an active approach to rehabilitation. Step one in the management of an acute injury is to see one of our highly trained physiotherapists. Once it is safe to do so, they will prescribe safe, specific, small movements, and if appropriate will refer you for one or a combination of, Physio-Delegated Kinesiology/Pilates/Yoga*, Group Physiotherapy*, and/or Small Group Exercise classes. In time, you will have the appropriate tools to resume your desired sport or activity stronger than ever.

*Billable under most Extended Benefit Plans if recommended and referred by a physiotherapist.

If you’re having trouble getting over a persistent pain, you may need some extra help to get you moving. When pain persists for more than 12 weeks, or even longer, it is considered Chronic Pain. While traditional treatment can help, a specialized approach may be most appropriate. At Sitka, we offer multiple strategies for management of Chronic Pain. Like everyone else, those suffering from Chronic Pain benefit from specific, mindful movement practices. Our Physiotherapists and Exercise Therapists work together to provide a coordinated approach, including, Central Sensitization Treatment, Craniosacral Therapy, Intramuscular Stimulation, Trauma Release Exercise, Restorative Yoga, and Acupuncture. Talk to your physiotherapist today to see which might be the right approach for you.

We look forward to seeing you at Sitka soon!

Yours in Health,

The Sitka Team
