Acupuncturist
She/Her
What are your top skills as an acupuncturist?
Gentle needle technique, cupping/guasha, listening
What kind of approach do you take with clients?
Holistic approach based in Traditional Chinese Medicine; finding a root cause and guiding the body back to balance through it’s innate internal healing. Like to treat a wide variety of concerns including musculoskeletal aches and pains, sleep and stress, women’s health, cosmetic rejuvenation
How would a friend describe you?
perceptive, empathetic, intuitive, funny, calming
What drew you to this profession?
Decided to take a leap of faith after being a bit lost in life and seeing an advertisement for Pacific Rim College. I grew up around Chinese medicine, and drinking pungent herbal soups but never really understanding until I went to school for it. The first week of school was really a lightbulb moment. At that point, seeing friends and family suffering from ailments and using pharmaceuticals to cover symptoms rather than resolving the original issue.
What lights you up about the work you do?
Wowing non-believers and seeing immediate results. Being able to give the power back to patients to help themselves get better. When patients tell me they fell asleep during the treatment and know their nervous system is getting out of Fight or Flight.
What motivates you in patient care?
Drawn to the hands-on nature of the practice, the potential for positive patient outcomes, and the opportunity to contribute to the growing field of integrative healthcare. I want to continue learning and educating others about the benefits for as along as I can.
Can you share some highlights in your background or training?
BSc in Biology from UVic, Diploma of Acupuncture from Pacific Rim College
What's something people might not expect about you?
Started taking a ballet class for the first time ever as an adult. My celebrity crush is Pedro Pascal
Where can we find you when you're not at the clinic?
Hanging out at home with my partner and dog, knitting, going out for good food and coffee, taking long walks
What are your non-negotiable heath/wellness practices or rituals?
Keeping cold and raw food/drinks to a minimum, positive affirmations and mindset
