He/Him
What are your top skills as a clinical counsellor?
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with 35 years of experience in providing therapy and support to individuals, groups, and workplaces.
What kind of approach do you take with clients?
I have a keen interest in promoting well-being through talk therapy, mindfulness practice and the reduction of anxiety that can impact quality of life. I I bring a holistic approach to my work and would describe my style as humanistic and existential in nature.
How would a friend describe you?
Most people would describe me as a good listener, approachable and warm.
What drew you to this profession?
While completing research with cancer patients during the Master of Arts program, I developed a strong interest in helping individuals and families cope with the stress of illness and focusing on finding meaning in life and reducing stress.
What lights you up about the work you do?
It’s always a joy to see the shift that happens when people have that “aha” moment and the old beliefs that have been standing in the way of healing begin to change. Healing on many levels is possible and my clients bring that search for a more peaceful and positive existence.
What motivates you in patient care?
It’s always for the client to be able to find the best version of themselves – whatever they define that as. To become aware of the potential for greater awareness, peace and happiness.
Can you share some highlights in your background or training?
My time working at hospice has taught me the value of living life to the fullest, and to not put important things off. Life is a temporary experience and we all have something unique to offer on the journey.
What's something people might not expect about you?
??
Where can we find you when you're not at the clinic?
I enjoy walking or biking in Stanley Park, hanging out a the beach and travelling to places far and near.
What are your non-negotiable heath/wellness practices or rituals?
I know that physical health supports mental health and vice versa and I believe in reflective or contemplative practices such as meditation and journaling.

I have a M.A. (1991) and training in mindfulness, EMDR, guided relaxation and positive Psychology.
