PHYSIOTHERAPY
Clinical Pilates
Clinical Pilates is a safe, individually-guided, practice with a specially-trained Physiotherapist. It is Patient-Specific, and designed to complement traditional Physiotherapy Exercises by using the principles of Pilates: Breathing, Core Activation, and Postural Alignment.
Clinical Pilates Instructors are Physiotherapists with specialized training in the Pilates Method. They employ Pilates Equipment, such as the Pilates Reformer, to facilitate movements and isolate muscles, while creating length and space in the body. They aim to empower patients to be aware of their body’s movements as well as their potential for movement.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
What to Expect During a Clinical Pilates Treatment
For your first Clinical Pilates appointment your physiotherapist will go through an assessment based on your current complaint. They will chat with you about your goals, and come up with a treatment plan based on those and the assessment findings. After any Manual Therapy or mobility work needed, your Physiotherapist will take you through some movements and exercises utilizing the Pilates equipment. You’ll be guided through exercises designed to help you move how you need to, to achieve your goals. You’ll also be shown ways to replicate some exercises at home if that is part of your treatment plan.
Each Clinical Pilates session will be tailored specifically to you and your goals.
