Sam is a graduate of the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy. He also holds a BA in Psychology from Simon Fraser University. His background in Massage Therapy is rooted in movement and from his own personal experience with injury. A severe back injury led Sam to discover the benefits of both Registered Massage Therapy and Pilates. It was while rehabilitating his own injuries that Sam was introduced to the world of Fascia and the methods of his mentor, Mark Finch. In addition to receiving specific hands-on RMT, Sam supplemented his recovery with movement rehabilitation via Pilates. He credits this integrative approach as enabling his successful return to activity, and for igniting his passion to help others recover.
Sam uses a combination of Myofascial release, Trigger point therapy, Active stretching, Swedish massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, and Joint Mobilizations in his treatment sessions. He has experience working with a wide range of demographics, and has provided sports therapy at the following events: Last Frontier Heliskiing, BC Bike Race, BMO Marathon and Iron Knee Trail Race, BC XC ski team, ITF and various local tennis tournaments.
